Established to Lead Malaysia's Energy Transition

Malaysia Programme Office for Power Electricity Reform Corporation (MyPOWER) is a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLBG) operating under the purview of the Ministry of Energy Transition & Water Transformation (PETRA).

Established to drive structural reforms within the national power sector, MyPOWER acts as a strategic advisory and programme implementation organisation committed to ensuring energy security, industry sustainability, and economic resilience.

Strategic MANDATE

Our Mandate

MyPOWER is entrusted with two core national mandates that support Malaysia's long-term energy transition.

Nuclear Energy Programme Implementing Organisation (NEPIO)
Providing leadership to plan, coordinate, and prepare the national infrastructure for nuclear energy power generation as an option post-2035, strictly adhering to international safety guidelines and IAEA frameworks.
Future-Proofing Malaysia Electricity Supply Industry (FP MESI)
Coordinating and implementing comprehensive industry reforms across governance, system planning, market design, third-party grid access, and tariff structures.
Mandate Period

Continuity of Our Mandate

Mid-2018

  • MyPOWER was re-activated with the approval of Cabinet.
  • No specific end date of its tenure was mentioned in the Cabinet decision.

End-2018

  • Former MESTECC Minister approved the establishment of MyPOWER for the period of three (3) years from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2021.
  • In 14 Disember 2020, KeTSA reviewed the option for early de-activation MyPOWER, however, maintained the existing timeline.

Mid-2021

  • On 11 February 2021, KeTSA approved that MyPOWER undertake MESI study and given this mandate, MyPOWER's tenure was extended to end 2022.

End-2022

  • On 7 September 2022, the Board had agreed to recommend the extension of tenure for MyPOWER from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2024, to coordinate the implementation of FP MESI initiatives.
  • The extension for the proposed duration was subsequently approved by YB KeTSA Minister.

End-2023 (Now)

  • Deliberation on the direction of MyPOWER post 2024.
STRATEGIC EVOLUTION & JOURNEY

Our Evolution

2010-2014

Phase 1: MESI 1.0

Incorporated as a special purpose agency to lead initial electricity supply industry reforms (governance, tariffs, PPA renegotiations, and IBR).

2018–2024

Phase 2: FP MESI

Reactivated by Cabinet approval to execute MESI 2.0 and develop the Future-Proofing MESI framework comprising 10 strategic reform initiatives.

2025-2030

Phase 3: Industry Reform & NEPIO

Mandate extended to support market structure evolution and serve as the national NEPIO, leading preparatory work for low-carbon energy options under RMK-13.
